In the Psychology of Carl Jung, the Anima is the archetypal image of the feminine within a man’s unconscious. A person becomes truly whole only when they recognize and integrate their inner opposite archetype. The Anima symbolizes the connection to the deep, the irrational, the intuitive. She is a mediator between the ego and the unconscious, between reality and dream. In mystical traditions of both East and West, the Anima archetype appears in the figures of Ishtar, Isis, Shakti, Persephone…She is both shadow and light — a path inward.
